Looking for some after school fun? Look no further than the YMCA! The Y offers fun, save, and engaging Afterschool Programs for kids in grades K-5
Why the Y?
- Longer programming sessions
- Winter Session: Jan 5 - Mar 21 (No class Jan 19, Jan 26, Feb 16)
- Spring Session: Mar 31 - Jun 6 (No class May 22, May 25)
- Free transportation is provided after school from Bridgewater, Greenvale Park, and Spring Creek elementary schools
- Spaces are limited and are available on a first come, first served basis
- After school snacks provided
- Screen-free environment
- All Y Staff are certified in CPR/AED/First Aid and child abuse prevention
- The Northfield Area Family YMCA is accredited by Praesidium, a nationally recognized leader in child abuse prevention
Daily Schedule (programs offered Mon-Thurs)
- 3:15 PM: Kids are picked up by the YMCA Van
- 3:30-4:00 PM: Snacks and free time in the Community Room
- 4:00-5:00 PM: Registered programming (several options offered each day)
- 5:00 PM: Kids are picked up in the Community Room
Throughout the school year we offer a variety of afterschool programs during our program sessions: Sept-Dec & Jan-May.

Basketball
Come join us in our gym to learn a classic sport that can be played on courts and blacktops in any season! Kids will learn the basics of basketball, including shooting form, dribbling moves, defensive positioning, passing essentials, and more. Throughout the session, kids of all skill levels, from novices who have never touched a basketball to those more familiar with the sport, will improve their skills through drills and minigames, eventually working towards scrimmages and games. Please bring a water bottle and clean shoes to wear in the gym.
Beading Club
Create, design, and shine with beads of all kinds! Welcome to a fun and creative space where kids explore the world of beads while making awesome crafts they’ll be proud of. From colorful Perler bead art to custom keychains, jewelry, and even wind chimes, each session offers something new and exciting to make. Kids will use their hands and imaginations to design one-of-a-kind creations they can take home or give as gifts. Come bead with us and turn tiny pieces into big fun!
Crafts Club
This program will provide participants the opportunity to learn about and create a wide variety of craft projects, from Perler beads and friendship bracelets to clay sculptures! New crafts projects will be offered each week in this casual, fun, low stress program. Beyond just an opportunity for creativity and personal expression, kids will be able to take their crafts home at the end of the session.
Floor Hockey
Join us in the gym after school to play some floor hockey! The indoor version of one of the most popular sports is just as much fun – and perfect for beginners and those looking for an hour of good exercise, no equipment required. Led by one of our youth sports coaches, kids of all ages and experience levels will learn to move the puck, pass, and shoot on the net! Please bring a water bottle and clean shoes to wear in the gym.
Imagination Club
This program is a mix of enrichment activities and will provide participants with the opportunity to engage in a variety of craft projects, science experiments, games and more! Beyond just an opportunity for creativity and personal expression, this club will promote engagement and thinking outside of the box.
Junior Ballers Club
Join the fun in this action-packed program where every week brings a new exciting ball sport! From Gaga Ball and Four Square to Tetherball, Pickleball, and more, players will discover unique ways to move, play, and compete. Junior Ballers Club keeps things fresh with fast-paced games, teamwork, and laughter - perfect for kids who love to stay active and try something new each week! Please bring a water bottle and clean shoes to wear in the gym.
LEGO® & Games Club
Join us for a fun, casual hour of LEGO® creations, board games, card games, and everything in between! In this program, students can play games and let their imagination run wild, while making new friends and connections. All materials will be supplied.
Soccer
Sign up for this program and learn the fundamentals of one of the most popular sports in the world! Kids learn to shoot, make good passes, dribble, and more – all while participating in a variety of fun drills and games that are designed to sharpen their skills and emphasize the importance of being a good teammate. Regardless of your experience with the sport, this program is perfect for getting good exercise and gaining new skills!
Spanish Club
This program brings language learning to life through hands-on, high-energy activities that build confidence and expand vocabulary — all en español. Whether your child loves performing, crafting, or running around outside, they’ll have a blast while strengthening their Spanish speaking skills in a fun, supportive environment.
Swim Lessons
Students will develop skills and gain confidence using YUSA's swimming lesson curriculum. Water safety and skill progression are a priority for all lessons!

Volleyball
By popular demand, volleyball will be one of our primary sports offerings for kids to participate in after school! Bump, set, spike... and have fun! Join us after school to work on skills, develop teamwork and sportsmanship, and compete during mini games and scrimmages. Kneepads, arm sleeves, and volleyball shoes are all optional; we encourage each participant to bring a water bottle.
Y Kids Club
At Y Kids Club, choosing your own adventure is up to you! Each week, participating kids get to choose from a variety of exciting activities, from sports and free play in the gym, getting creative with crafts, or exploring something new. Led by the Youth Development staff, the Y Kids Club is a great afterschool care option that prioritizes fun and excitement for all - regardless of what each kid is interested in. Please bring a water bottle and clean shoes to wear in the gym.
