Meet Kitty Runzheimer
With a background in Health and Wellness, Kitty worked for more than 20 years as a Personal Trainer at the Ridgedale YMCA and in Program Development for the Minneapolis Metro YMCA system. She was a National YMCA Trainer in the Y’s “Way to a Healthy Back” and “Active Older Adult Land and Water” Programs. Kitty says, “The Y was instrumental in the success of my career so I felt compelled to give back a little of my time and talent to help assure the success of the Northfield YMCA.”
Her initial plan was to volunteer in a non-fitness area at the Y, but she quickly realized she is most comfortable motivating and assisting members to safely and effectively achieve their activity goals. “So I had to eat my words,” Kitty said, “and ask Craig Swenson, the Wellness Center Coordinator, if I could help out in the Fitness Center. Working alongside Craig has challenged me to extend myself beyond the minor limitations of the aging process and be the best that I can be.”
Craig is happy to have Kitty’s presence in the fitness center. He says, “Kitty is an amazing woman. She has been an advocate for the YMCA from day one. She is dedicated to helping others obtain both their life goals and fitness oriented goals. She is extremely knowledgeable in the fitness industry. Kitty volunteers in the early morning at the Northfield YMCA Wellness Center and you can see her answering questions from the fitness equipment to general health questions. We are truly grateful to have Kitty working at the Northfield YMCA, and I am personally privileged and honored to work with such an inspirational and dedicated fitness specialist.”
