Northfield community members preselected seven construction companies by local recommendation. All firms were local or had major offices/headquarters in the Twin Cities area. We received seven proposals!
After comparing to a selection criteria, four were interviewed. After interviews and reference checks, one firm was selected in April, 2013, unanimously by our Construction Committee of volunteers – PCL Construction Services.
We are extremely excited to team with PCL to begin construction. Please take a moment to learn more about their company views and vision and read the special note from John Jensvold (PCL Senior Executive) below.
A message from John Jensvold, PCL Construction Senior Executive:
The new Northfield YMCA is the culmination of our commitment to the Northfield Community over the years, including a series of successful projects for Carleton College, Malt-O-Meal and Bethel Lutheran Church. Our entire company is thrilled to be a part of this exciting next chapter in the YMCA story.
PCL is one of the oldest general contractors in North America, founded in 1906. Our core values all relate to providing the highest quality construction and overall best value to our customers. Our brand, after all, is really the combination of the projects we build and the long-term satisfaction of our clients.
PCL brings the resources, construction technologies and talented staff of a large firm, but the personal attention of a local builder. Our headquarters and equipment storage facility are located in Burnsville, just east of 35W.
We have completed many exciting projects in Minnesota over the years, including: Nickelodeon Universe at Mall of America, Children’s Museum Rooftop Garden, Eagan High School and Dakota Hills Middle School, Siebert Baseball Field at the University of Minnesota, Meadows Golf House at Mystic Lake Casino Hotel, and the Minneapolis Central Library.
