Group Fitness Classes and Schedules
Below is a brief description of our classes as well as links to help you get a good feel for each class and find the right class(es) for you! We very much appreciate your feedback for times/days or types of group fitness classes. As our membership grows, we’ll continue to add classes. You do not need to be a Northfield YMCA member in order to take a group exercise class, however, our swimming classes are for Northfield YMCA members ONLY.
Group Exercise Program Evaluation

WINNERS OF THE Spring 2013 GROUP EXERCISE SPRING INTO EXERCISE:
In the months of March and April the Northfield YMCA Group Exercise classes set out a challenge for our members. Each time you participated in a group exercise class you received a punch on a punch card. The object of the game was to get your punch card filled up. Once it was filled up with 10 punches on it you could than turn it in to go in for a drawing. We had 4 winners that got a water bottle, Y-White T-shirt, Y Backpack, and a Y Coffee Mug Congratulations to our winners!!!

Core Fitness
Looking for a different way to trim up that midsection? Here’s the place! Tone the mid-section (abs, back, and sides) with this innovative class. You will feel results working the abdominal, obliques, and lower back muscles utilizing a variety of exercise equipment.

Kettlebells
Heart pumping workout that uses Kettlebells to challenge the entire body. Previous Kettlebell experience is required OR attendance in a YMCA Intro to Kettlebells Class. CLASS SIZES ARE LIMITED TO 8 PARTICIPANTS. Feel Free to bring your own Kettlebell.

Pilates Fusion
Based on the exercises originally designed by Joseph Pilates, this a highly effective conditioning method that works out your “power house” muscles, the abs, low back, thighs, and buttocks.

Power
This class strengthens the major muscles through simple, athletic movements including squats, lunges, presses, curls, and abs! Great for both men and women of all ages and fitness levels who want to tone and define their entire body! THURSDAY NIGHTS POWER IS LIMITED TO 12 PARTICIPANTS.

Zumba
Try the latest craze Zumba! Zumba incorporates Latin music and dance movements to give you a very effective cardio and muscle-toning workout. The dance steps are easy to follow and no prior dance experience is necessary. IT’S CONTAGIOUS! WEDNESDAY CLASS IS LIMITED TO 18 PARTICIPANTS. Please sign up for the Zumba classes the Monday before the class to reserve your spot by calling 507-664-7349.
Class size maximum ensures that all participants are abel to have a safe and pleasent experience. To ensure that YMCA members are able to reserve a space, members can sign up the Monday before the class. Community Members can sign up for the class the day before the class is offered.

Intro to Kettlebells
Come join our intro classes to Kettlebells. Kick start your 2012 get-fit resolutions with a time efficient way to improve: cardio-respiratory fitness, muscle strength, endurance. All while simultaneously enhancing balance, core strength, coordination, and posture! This heart-pumping workout recruits the entire body providing you with an entire workout in just 30 minutes. This Class is a pre-requisite to taking Kettlebells.

Swimming
The YMCA is pleased to announce a new collaboration with the Northfield Senior Center.Open Swim & Aqua Fitness Classes are for 18+ year olds only (as requested by the Senior Center). Family Swim members must all be potty trained. Any costs associated with swimming are to help the Y pay the per use cost of the pool.
Adult Open Swimming
Excellent workout for adults and for rehabilitation purposes. ONLY open to those who are 18+ and are NORTHFIELD AREA YMCA MEMBERS. Cost is $1 per visit.
Aqua Fitness Classes
Group Exercise fun in the pool! Join us for an excellent and easy-on-your-body workout at the Senior Center. ONLY open to NORTHFIELD AREA YMCA MEMBERS. First 8 visits per month are free.
Aqua Zumba
Enjoy all the fun of Zumba but in the pool. You will notice less impact on your joints and an increase in endurance as you use the water to push yourself through this great cardio workout. ONLY open to NORTHFIELD AREA YMCA MEMBERS.
Family Swim
Swimming for you and your family (all family members must be potty trained). Splash, Laugh, Giggle and get some great family exercise at the Senior Center Pool!. ONLY open to NORTHFIELD AREA YMCA MEMBERS. Family Members are Free.
Group exercise classes are open to members or community members. Community members must pay a $5 guest pass fee per class. A one-time community members waiver form is required to be completed. Child Watch is available and is free to those with family memberships and $3 per two hours for adult members or community members.
