Welcome to YMCA Group Exercise Fitness! Below is a brief description of our classes as well as links to help you get a good feel for each class and find the right class(es) for you!

We very much appreciate your feedback for times/days or types of group fitness classes.  As our membership grows, we’ll continue to add classes.

Member Information

Members and Nonmembers!

  • Pilates. All levels. Based on the exercises originally designed by Joseph Pilates, this is a highly effective conditioning method that works out your “power house” muscles – the abdominals, lower back, thighs and buttocks.  Each movement emphasizes proper body alignment and breathing techniques.  You’ll build strength, increase your flexibility, develop agility, improve your posture and deepen body awareness.  Free to Members/$5 Guest Pass.   • Boot Camp. Beg level. Whatever your sport is, improve your strength and stamina through a rugged workout of sports drills, weights, jump rope, boxing, circuits and interval training. Free to Members/$5 Guest Pass.
  • Strength &Toning Class. Strengthen those muscles and tone your body with this slow paced strength class. Excellent way to amplify strengthening exercises you may already be doing.
  • Body Sculpt: Strengthen those muscles and tone your body. Excellent way to amplify strengthen exercises you may already be doing.
  • Y Super Abs: Want those six pack abs everyone is talking about?? Well come and join our Fantastic Group Exercise class geared towards toning and strengthening your abdominal and core muscles.
  • NEW! Power Class: 60-Minute program that strengthens the major muscles through simple, athletic movements including squats, lunges, presses, curls and abs! Great for both men and women of all ages and all fitness levels who want to tone and define their entire body.
  • NEW! Zumba Gold: An addictive fitness program inspired by Latin dance. We utilize the principles of fitness to maximize caloric output, fat burning, and total body toning. All while being in a fun and low key atmosphere
  • NEW! Bender Ball Core and More: Strengthen your Core with this Pilates Technique using the small ball. Also incorporating Traditional Mat Pilates, & Pilates on the Resist-A-Ball you will strengthen the Power House of your Core (abs, back, sides) in a session that will both strengthen, challenge, relax & envigorate you!  
  • NEW! Total Stretch: Come join our Total Stretch class, where in a relaxed enviroment you will enjoy a total body workout of increased flexibility and core muscle groups. NO Choreography is involved.
  • NEW! Swimming: The YMCA is pleased to annnounce a new collaboration with the Northfield Senior Center.Open Swim & Aqua Fitness Classes are for 18+ year olds only (as requested by the Senior Center). Family Swim members must all be potty trained. Any costs associated with swimming are to help the Y pay the per use cost of the pool.
  • NEW! Adult Open Swimming:  Excellent workout for Adults and for rehabilitation purposes. ONLY Open to those that are 18+ and are NORTHFIELD AREA YMCA MEMBERS. Cost is $1 per visit.
  • NEW! Aqua Fitness Classes: Group Exercise fun in the pool!! Join us for an excellent and eas-on-your- body workout at the Senior Center. ONLY Open to NORTHFIELD AREA YMCA MEMBERS. First 8 visits per month are free.
  • NEW! Family Swim: Swimming for you and your family (all family members must be potty trained). Splash, Laugh, Giggle and get some great family exercise at the Senior Center Pool!. ONLY open to NORTHFIEL AREA YMCA MEMBERS. Family Memebers are Free. 

Classes are open to members or nonmembers.  Nonmembers must pay a $5 guest pass fee per class.  A one-time Nonmember waiver form is required to be completed. Child Watch is available and is free to members and $3 per two hours for nonmembers or Adult Members.
