YMCA Total Body Strength – A Very Different Group Exercise Class

Posted February 13th, 2009 by Virginia Kaczmarek

Lynda Maus and I designed the concept of this class together.  What could we offer every-day folks, that would be a strength training AND cardio class? This class has two components. One part works with Lynda in our group exercise room. The other works on the cardio equipment (bikes, ellipticals, treadmills).  This keeps the class sizes small but allows for more people to participate.

The group in the exercise room will get the most attention from Lynda (who is a nationally certified personal trainer).  She’ll work with you on your form and ensure you are working to get a good workout at your own pace. The other half of the class works on the cardio equipment (treadmills, ellipticals, bikes).  After 30 minutes, the groups switch place.

The goal is to give people a good solid workout – both cardio and strength for a strong heart, muscles and overall body health.

Work at your own pace and build a ‘tool box’ of exercises. Come once or every class. Child Care is available for participants in this class only (the Health & Wellness Center is open ONLY to participants in this class). Check out our Total Body Strength Flier for more details.

Class is Sunday night 6:00-7:00 pm (the Health & Wellness Center and Child Watch room are open ONLY to participants in this class)
Free for members (Child Watch is free for Family Members)
$5 for nonmember (Child Watch is $3 per child)

Our Health & Wellness Center is located at 900 Cannon Valley Drive on the Campus of the Northfield Retirement Community.
