1/2 Day – Nature Day Camp
Summer 2013 marks the fifth year of collaboration between the Y and Carleton College. The curricular components of the program focus on creating a fun, cooperative learning environment that fosters an appreciation of nature. We utilize space and resources of the Farm House and the Arb. We will use the talent of Carleton students as staff to participate in the planning, curriculum, and administration of activities for the children in the program. In turn, the Northfield YMCA will manage the PAW program and add its resources and programming expertise to make the Prairie and Wood experience even better. Low camper-to-staff ratio of 5:1 provides the opportunity for personalized learning and fun.
For over 35 years, the Prairie and Wood program at Carleton has provided hundreds of children memories for a lifetime. The Y is pleased to carry on this tradition of providing a unique summer day camp experience for the youth in the community.
At PAW we will:
- Explore nearby prairie, woodland, bog, marsh, lake, and river ecosystems
- Learn about rocks, trees, animals, and other natural phenomena
- Explore each week’s unique theme
