Summer Camp programs at the YMCA have proven to be a phenomenal success this summer. Participation has been beyond expectation and feedback has been wonderful from both parents and kids!Â
The Y Navigator participants spent today at Read’s Sheep and Cheese Farm just outside Northfield. This is a working farm and kids received an excellent educational tour from Steven Read and all kids spent some time sitting on a horse courtesy of the Read’s neighbors! Blue Cheese was a surprising hit with the kids. This program has been averaging 17-28 kids per day with parents adding weeks and days consistently all summer.Â
Day and Wee Camp have also been wonderfully received. Kids spend time exploring nature, playing outdoors and simply doing what kids do best - have fun! Our Day Camp averages 18 kids per week and Wee Camp is averaging 12 per week!Â
Our Wee 3 and U4 Soccer program is nearing its end next week with fifty, 3 and 4 year-olds participating. Our golf and tennis programs have also exploded with 36 kids handling a racket and golf clubs. If you have time, stop by the Armory and let me show you the size putter a 3 year old uses.Â
We are still able to take new registration for our Camp programs which end in August. Contact us at www.northfieldymca.org or 507-645-0088 with questions.
